What EMSELLA is

EMSELLA uses focused electromagnetic energy to contract your pelvic floor muscles while you sit, fully clothed, on a treatment chair. A traditional Kegel contracts the pelvic floor once. EMSELLA delivers thousands of supramaximal contractions in a single session of about 28 minutes.

Those contractions strengthen the muscles that support the bladder and urethra, and retrain them to engage at the right time.

02

Your session and aftercare

You sit upright with feet flat and pelvis centered, in thin non-metallic clothing, and the intensity is raised slowly to a level that is effective but still tolerable. It feels like strong, rhythmic tapping and tightening, unusual but not painful.

There is no downtime. You stand up and go back to work, errands or home the same day.

  • Fully clothed, no anesthesia

  • About 28 minutes in the chair

  • Back to normal activity the same day

  • Sessions spaced across several weeks

03

When to expect results

EMSELLA works best as a series of sessions over several weeks. Some people notice fewer leaks or less urgency after a few treatments. For others the change is gradual and shows up across the whole series.

Results vary with the severity of your symptoms, your overall health, and how consistently you complete the sessions. Dr. Sarah reviews what to realistically expect before you start.

04

Who it's for

EMSELLA is FDA-cleared for urinary incontinence. It helps with leaking under sudden pressure, urgency that arrives with little warning, postpartum pelvic changes and the bladder shifts that come with perimenopause and menopause. Men use it for urinary leakage and pelvic floor weakness too.

It is not suitable with certain metal implants or pacemakers, and for advanced prolapse it is often not enough on its own. Dr. Sarah reviews your full medical history and tells you plainly when a referral is the better step.

What Emsella treats

Stress urinary incontinence

Stress urinary incontinence

Leaking with a cough, a laugh, a lift or a run points toward stress incontinence, where the pelvic floor no longer holds under sudden pressure.

Treatments+

Strengthening the pelvic floor with Emsella helps improve closure pressure around the urethra. That often means fewer surprises during daily activity. About 28 minutes, fully clothed.

Causes+

The muscles that used to tighten reflexively now fatigue and stop firing when you jump, lift, or laugh.

FAQ

Your Emsella questions,
answered by Dr. Sarah

What patients ask most often before starting pelvic floor therapy at Lesh Lifestyle.

Emsella is a non-invasive pelvic floor treatment that uses focused electromagnetic energy to stimulate deep muscle contractions while you sit on a chair. It strengthens the pelvic floor and improves bladder control for leakage and urgency.

It feels like strong, rhythmic tapping and tightening deep in the pelvic area. You sit upright with feet flat and pelvis centered on the widest part of the seat. Most patients describe it as unusual but tolerable.

Emsella can be effective for many people with stress or urge urinary incontinence by strengthening the pelvic floor and improving bladder support. Results vary with symptom severity and consistency. Dr. Sarah reviews what to realistically expect first.

It may help mild pelvic organ prolapse by strengthening the muscles supporting the bladder and uterus. For advanced prolapse it is often not enough alone. Dr. Sarah evaluates your degree of prolapse and tells you if a referral is better.

Most patients need a series spread over several weeks. The exact number depends on your starting pelvic strength, the type of incontinence, and how your body responds. Dr. Sarah builds a clear plan and explains the timeline at your visit.

There is no downtime. Emsella is FDA-cleared for urinary incontinence and generally considered safe, though not suitable with certain metal implants or pacemakers. Dr. Sarah reviews your full medical history before recommending it.

Yes. Men use Emsella for urinary leakage and pelvic floor weakness. When erectile dysfunction is part of the picture, Dr. Sarah can prescribe ED medication alongside the treatment plan when it is appropriate.

Dr. Sarah tells you plainly when pelvic floor treatment is not enough. If symptoms persist after a full series, she refers you to a urologist or an OB-GYN, depending on what is driving them.
